Position Summary:
The Lab Coordinator will:
• Be responsible for coordinating all laboratory activities in
the SON labs with the clinical coordinator and appropriate course
coordinator to achieve course objectives for undergraduate and graduate
labs.
• Coordinate, assess and evaluate lab activities, use of EHR, and teaching
of skills with course coordinators and attend meetings as needed.
• With faculty, evaluate evidence to support specific skill standardization and
updating, and maintain appropriate SSP evaluation forms and videos.
• Coordinate and run simulation experiences for students and faculty.
• Serve as a resource for faculty in promoting student learning experiences and
for professional development.
• Provide instructional support to faculty for Skills Lab practicum.
• Assess students’ psychomotor abilities in the performance of nursing skills
and promote critical thinking skills in the application of theory to practice.
• Maintain record of student attendance hours in the Skills Lab and coordinate
open hours with patterns of student attendance.
• Maintain communication with faculty regarding students’ learning
difficulties.
• Schedule skills evaluation (“SSPs”), med-math evaluations, and simulation
activities.
• Coordinate the activities of the TAs assigned to the labs and monitor their
activities to cover assigned on-campus lab days and “open labs”.
• Supervise, train, coach, schedule and evaluate TAs in collaboration with
course coordinators.
• Coordinate the administrative details of the Skills Lab equipment including
preparing maintaining, cataloging, and ordering.
• Coordinate and schedule Flu clinics with faculty.
Minimum Qualifications:
Earned master’s degree in nursing. Experience as staff RN in a hospital. Candidate should be comfortable with computers, Microsoft Office (e.g. Word and PowerPoint), systems of documenting care online, and quality improvement methods. Ability to coordinate and monitor complex activities and collaborate. NYS RN License is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent clinical and simulation experience is highly desirable. BLS and ACLS certification preferred.
