Security Analyst Intern, Online Safety Security

The Online Safety team within Facebook Security analyzes current trends in user safety, investigates cases, and develops solutions to mitigate future risk. The team is looking for an intern with a passion for investigation and analysis, cybercrime, and problem solving. This role is for Summer 2018 and will be based in Menlo Park, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Support investigations into Facebook and Instagram accounts to identify sources of abusive behavior
  • Summarize and present information from investigations and reports to internal teams
  • Help to build and chart networks to stop abuse
  • Gather, synthesize and analyze relevant data, suggesting improvements in the tools and techniques to help scale the team and mitigate future risk

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursing a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Public and International Affairs, Security and Intelligence Studies, Forensic Psychology, etc.
  • Interest in online investigations about users safety
  • Experience with analytical tools, internet based research tools and relational databases
  • Interest in performing complex link analysis based on technical artifacts, and conducting -thorough online investigations
  • Passionate about the subject of criminology on the Internet
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability and inclination to protect highly confidential information and users’ privacy
