Environmental Management Trainee 2018

The Management Trainee (MT) Program is specifically designed to develop leaders that will drive the future of our organization.  This program begins with a one week orientation at our corporate headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas.  During this time, MTs receive a company overview, interact with company leaders, and develop skills for a successful career.  Additional training will vary by department.  With hard work, the desire to learn, and the ability to develop relationships, career opportunities are endless.  

 

Relocation assistance may be provided to those who are moving more than 50 driving miles from their permanent residence.

 

Work Location: Lincoln, NE or Fort Worth, TX

Anticipated Start Date: January 29, 2018 and June 11, 2018
Salary Range: $61,200 - 65,600

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Following the orientation, MTs receive on-the-job training related to the items listed below.

  • Manage and oversee compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations and BNSF policy, as assigned by the Manager Environmental Operations.
  • Include assisting with the submittal of time critical reports to various governmental agencies to document compliance.
  • Track environmental compliance using an environmental information system.
  • Manage project budgets, work orders and invoices.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Primarily an office environment with some field activities.
  • 50% travel on assigned territory is required. Some travel may be on short notice.
  • Normal office hours, five days per week with weekend, evening, or holiday work as required.

 

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above for engineering majors OR cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above for non-engineering majors.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree from an accredited university to be completed prior to hire OR have obtained a degree within the past three (3) years.
  • Less than three (3) years of work experience in a professional work environment.  When calculating work experience, EXCLUDE internships or positions held while in high school or college.
  • Authorization to work in the US without Company sponsorship now AND in the future.
  • Environmental compliance experience or education in the areas of solid waste, hazardous and special waste, storm water, wastewater, spill prevention control and countermeasures and air.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Degree in one of the following: Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology or Chemistry. Professional license or certification is beneficial but not required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (specifically Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Proven leadership experience and excellent oral and written communication skills.
